Throughout a successful thirteen year history Rocket had undergone various changes in name, before finally deciding enough is enough. This BAFTA winning digital agency desired a name they could really own, something unique, memorable and catchy. After a lengthy renaming session they decided on Joi Polloi. ‘Joy’ to represent what they bring to their client’s audience and ‘Hoi Polloi’ to represent who work for – the masses.
We were brought in to bring life to their new name. After spending time with all their staff (understanding their goals & personality) we took them through some exercises to draw out their visual preferences.
Their cheeky personality and colourful outlook were a great starting point for us. Luzi Type’s 'Faro Lucky’ gave us the perfect ‘cheeky’ typeface to work with. The bowls & loops within the font seemed to smile at us, which tied directly back to the joy in Joi Polloi. These smiles went on to become a core part of the Joi Polloi brand.
We used witty photographic styling to illustrate their approach to work and introduced ‘Little Jois’ as playful sharable content celebrating life’s unexpected joys.
